AUTHOR: BARBARA ALLYN
BARBARA HAS EVOLVED INTO A THOUGHT LEADER AND PARADIGM SHIFTER THROUGH THE CREATION OF HER GROUND-BREAKING FRAMEWORK, TRIBAL THEORY AND THE HEALING PRACTICES OF SENSORY DIALOGUE, AND SYMBOLICS. SHE IS OFTEN FEATURED ON CANADIAN TELEVISION AND RADIO IN RESPONSE TO BOTH NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TRAMATIC AND DISASTER INCIDENTS.
As a highly respected speaker, presenter and facilitator, barbara brings a wealth of experiential learning from her work as a family mediator, adolescent clinical counsellor and classroom behavioural specialist. She continues to advance the unique, effective trauma-response to moral injury framework that is Tribal Theory.
Tribal Theory Practices are consistently described by front line responders, counsellors, and global communities as culturally safe, practical and easy-to-apply, creating a powerful path to integration, healing and well-being.
MORAL INJURY in the context of holistic trauma response, “moral injury” refers to the impact of participating, witnessing, and/or being victimized by actions and behaviours which violate a person’s moral core values, beliefs, and behavioural expectations of others.
Understanding that sensory tools have a place in recovery, improving communication and an asset in expressing emotions thoughts and feelings.
Symbols have value in our ability to understand and heal. Once you understand how and why you feel a certain way it helps in the next steps to healing and even removing the value of triggers.
Learning about out strengths and weaknesses while learning from them and how to turn those into strengths.
We speak to the knowledege that we are all connected - when we do not cope well it affects everyone - when we move to healing and wellness it will also impact those that surround us.
Through a framework or cognitive behaviour approach which is a sustainable tool that you can use at home or with a community health worker.
